Community Based Eco Tourism Programmes -

The forest department offers a variety of activities for the nature lovers.
They are as below :

  1. Nature Walk - 3 hour day trekking : 7 am, 11 am, 2 pm | Tariff Rs. 100/- per person. (minimum Rs. 500/-).
  2. Periyar Tiger Trail : Camping inside the forest (starting at 9 am)
    1 night / 2 days: Rs. 3000/- per person, Minimum Rs. 5000/-
    2 nights / 3 days: Rs. 5000/- per person, Minimum Rs. 7500/-
  3. Border Hiking (Full Day hiking ) 8 am to 5 pm, Rs. 750 per person.
  4. Bamboo Rafting: Trekking & Rafting 8 am to 5 pm.
  5. Jungle Patrol: Night Trekking 7 pm to 10 pm, 10 pm to 1 am, 1 am to 4 am, Tariff Rs. 500/- per person.
  6. Tribal Heritage 8 am to 4 pm, Two hours trip Rs. 100.
  7. Coracle and bullock cart ride: Rs. 1000 per person.
  8. Boating in Periyar Lake: 7 am, 9.30 am 2 pm, 4 pm (2 hours each).

Spice Plantation tour & Tea factory visit
Go for a visit to our plantation, an interesting journey to see and feel the Spices through a spice plantation tour with a guide. And also you can purchase spices from the spice market over there.

Elephant Ride
You can go for a two hour or a half day elephant ride through the jungle. Or you can play bathe nd also you can check your strength by playing tug of war. With elephant & observe their natural habitats…

Bullock Cart Ride
Are you interested to go for a ride in a bullock cart? You can go for a ride in the bullock cart to visit a place that is behind the mountains of Periyar tiger reserve which is a farm land of a village. The village is rich bird diversity, and there you can see the agricultural crops of tamarind, mangoes, sunflower,onions, jasmine and a score of other vegetables and our trained guides will explain you how farming has woven delicately with the culture and the life of the naives.

Boating
You will get a boating through the Periyar Tiger Reserve lakes. And the forests which you are seeing in the side of the lake are rich in bird life and arboreal animals like giant squirrel and Nilgiri Langour. Animals like elephant, gaur and sambar are sighted keeping close to the bounds of the lake.
